Folds and Stress

FOLDING
There are 3 types of folds. They are anticlines, synclines, and monoclines.
Anticline- Upward arching fold.
Syncline- Downward arching fold
Monocline- rock is folded so that the ends are horizontal.

STRESS

Stress is a force that often makes rocks have a change in shape. There are 2 types and they are: compression and tension.
Compression- stress that squeezes objects. Compression is similar to collisions and convergent boundaries becuase they are all crashing (or sqeezing) together.

Tension- Stress that stretches objects. Tension is similar to divergent boundaries because they both pull apart.
