Connecticut is home to the Eastern Border Fault that runs from New Haven, all the way to Keene, New Hampshire, which is a total of 130 miles.
A visual of where the Rift Basin and Border fault is are located.
When this fault was formed the land west of the fault sunk, a rift valley was formed. Also, the land tilted 15 to 25 degrees as a result of the land sinking. A rift zone is a area of low land between mountains or highlands. However, this fault is currently inactive.
